Commercial Driver's License Class-A Training
In partnership with Northern Maine Community College, York County Community College will be offering training for the Commercial Driver’s Class-A License. The Commercial Driving Academy is a State of Maine licensed tractor-trailer driving school. This course is designed to train you to become a professional truck driver. You will learn exactly what it takes to be a responsible driver and how to handle a tractor and trailer safely and efficiently. The training culminates in the State of Maine certification test.

Please note: The CDL-A培训 runs for 8 continuous weeks and meets Monday to Friday from 8am to 4pm daily. -
Eligibility Requirements

Personal interview
Valid ME Driver’s License and a copy of your driving record*
Pre-entrance alcohol and controlled substance screen (test must be negative)
DOT physical in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier safety regulations, found to be qualified

Heavy and tractor-trailer truck drivers transport goods from one location to another. Most tractor-trailer drivers are long-haul drivers and operate trucks with a total weight exceeding 26,000 pounds for the vehicle, 乘客, 和货物. These drivers deliver goods over intercity routes that sometimes span several states.
职责
Heavy and tractor-trailer truck drivers typically do the following:
Drive long distances
Report any incidents encountered on the road to a dispatcher
Follow all applicable traffic laws
Secure cargo for transport, using ropes, blocks, chains, or covers
Inspect their trailers before and after the trip and record any defects they find
Maintain a log of their working hours, following all federal and state regulations
Report serious mechanical problems to the appropriate people
Keep their trucks and associated equipment clean and in good working order
